Soccer: Egypt wins, celebrates a record 7th title of African Cup of Nations championship

The Pharaohs of Egypt beat the Black Stars of Ghana 1 – 0 to grab the trophy on Sunday January 31, 2010 in Luanda, Angola.

In a hotly contested match, Egypt scored the lone goal at the 80th minute when Mohamed Nagy “Geddo” drove a fast shot past the Ghanaian goalkeeper.

The match was handled by Coulibaly Koman from Mali.

Egypt: El Hadary, Al-Muhamadi, Goma’a, Fathy (Moatasem 89), Moawad (Abdel-Shafy 55), Ghaly, Said, Hassan, Hosni, Zidan, Motaeb (Geddo 70)

Ghana: Kingson, Inkoom, Vorsah, Addy, Sarpei, Agyemang Badu, Annan, Ayew, Asamoah, Gyan (Adiyah 87), Opoku (Addo 89)

Nigeria defeated Algeria in the third-fourth place game of African Cup of Nations 2010. A total of 71 goals were scored in the 2010 edition of the African football competition.
